Subsidized Counselling in Vancouver
Because you deserve it.
If money doesn’t buy happiness, it shouldn’t stop you from finding it either. With our Community Assistance program, you no longer have to struggle alone with depression or anxiety just because your health plan doesn’t cover it.
Your sessions are provided through UBC’s Counselling Practicum, with direct supervision to ensure that your care meets our rigorous standards.
See the change you want in your life.
Whether you’ve been struggling with anxiety for months or shocked by an unexpected loss, you might be feeling like nothing you try is helping.
At Thrive, we’ll work together to explore your concerns from new perspectives that create fresh insights into your problems, then build the skills and concrete plans needed to take action to get your life where you want it.
Not your Grandaddy's Counselling
Though we specialize in men’s issues, we know that it’s not only men that appreciate the directness of our methods that go straight to heart of your issues.
Our sessions are tailored to your unique situation, making full use of your own personal strengths and personality to arrive at a collaborative, concrete solution.
“I learned here that there are DAMN good reasons behind why we feel down sometimes. I wish I’d done this sort of thing years ago, because I feel like I wasted a lot of time feeling worse than I could have. For men who hate the idea of feeling weak, all I can see is doing this kind of work gives you a kind of personal power in doing whatever you want in life.”
Thrive consulting is a great place for men to be themselves. There are few places for men to really express there everyday struggles, and I always leave Thrive feeling refreshed and with a sharper perspective on things.

“As I transitioned out of university and into professional life, Carson was a great resource for helping me deal with difficulties I had during that time. Carson’s a younger guy himself and he really understood where I was coming from and shared his personal experiences with me.”
Meet Your Team
Our Interns are Masters-level counselling students from the University of British Columbia, supervised by our senior clinicians.
David brings a genuine and warm presence to his work that is grounded in real-world experience and backed by evidence-based practice with depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. He believes that life’s struggles are often made harder by the shutting down and ignoring of important parts of ourselves, and he is driven to see others reach their potential.
A former Geoscientist, David changed his career to pursue his passion for helping others who are struggling. He is currently finishing his clinical hours for his Master degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, as well as working as a university career advisor and a group fitness instructor.
